Instructor: Chris Wentworth, Master Leave No Trace Educator

Purpose: The American Camp Association has recently partnered with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics to update the ACA’s OLS curriculum. We will be offering our popular Leave No Trace Trainer along with Maine State Trip Leader Safety courses in a combined OLS Instructor training. Your OLS staff can benefit from this course even if your camp does not offer a tripping program as they will be able to stay current with the new ACA OLS program. This is also a great training for your Junior Maine Guide Program instructors. Through this nationally recognized training, you will be able to demonstrate and teach state of the art minimum impact techniques and outdoor ethics to youth, adults and community groups. This course is ideal for Trip Leaders and Outdoor Living Skills counselors.

LNT Course (Medium)Prerequisites:

  • The minimum age for this course is 18 years old.
  • Participants will need to bring their own personal gear for a two night camping trip. Wyonegonic will provide food, tents and group gear.
  • Participants should have some camping and backpacking experience.
  • Prior to the course, each participant will prepare a 20 minute experiential teaching session related to one of the Leave No Trace principles. When you receive your confirmation, you will receive a listing of presentation topics.
