Wilderness Tripping

Practicing Outdoor Living Skills

Wyonegonic has an extensive out-of-camp tripping program that all campers have the opportunity to participate in. Younger campers are encouraged to experience an overnight canoe excursion and a day hike each session. They use these experiences to practice their Outdoor Living Skills, creating eligibility to participate in longer trips as they get older.

When campers arrive at Wyonegonic, they participate in swim and canoe skills to determine the types of trips they can participate in. At the beginning of each session, we offer many hiking and canoeing day trips where the campers prepare for longer trips. The trips are planned with varying degrees of difficulty so each camper can choose their challenge.

These day trips are a prerequisite for multi-day trips. We offer hiking trips throughout the White Mountains of New Hampshire and southern Maine. The canoe trips are a combination of lake and river canoeing.

As the summer progresses, campers have the opportunity to go on longer trips. These trips range from overnight to week-long opportunities.
