Winona Camps
Our Brother Camp
The Cobb family also founded Wyonegonic’s brother camp Winona in 1908.
The Cobbs, being educators, infused their camps with a respect for learning. The Sudduths and Ordways enthusiastically endorse this same goal to share with youth the time-honored practices and ideals of wilderness living.
Many things have remained the same over Winona’s 100 years: boys still spend their summers at camp living in canvas tents on the shores of Moose Pond and learning outdoor living skills. But “newer” activities, such as rock climbing, kayaking, and lacrosse, complement Winona’s history as one of the oldest summer boys camps in the country.
Winona & Wyonegonic
With Winona located just five miles up the lake from Wyonegonic, brothers and sisters can travel to camp together. Siblings and cousins can visit each other on Sundays. Many activities such as regattas, road races, and a dance for the teenagers are traditionally co-sponsored by the two camps to sustain their long-standing relationship.
Boys from around the country and around the world come to summer camp each year at Winona to experience the traditions, such as The Bat, friendly Red—Gray competitions, and The Great Relay. Their campers and staff represent over 30 different states and 15 different countries each summer.
This diversity of people, as well as their beautiful location on Moose Pond, gives boys friendships and memories that last a lifetime.
